After High School I went to college for a year. Then I worked full time for a local farmer until 1971 when I began working for Valley Welding Supply where I worked for 13 years.
In 1984 I bought a hazelnut cleaning and drying business and operated a receiving station for Blue Diamond Growers. In 2008 I moved the operation to Brooks, Oregon and became a hazelnut receiving station, cleaning plant and dryer for George Packing Company.
I married Kathy in 1992, and in 1995 we bought part of the family farm and planted 60 acres of hazelnuts. Together we have 4 children, 3 girls and 1 boy. We also have a grandson who is 13 and a granddaughter 11.
In 2008, I leased out the cleaning plant and dryers so that I could spend more time traveling, and taking care of our 60 acre hazelnut orchard. We also like to tour in our 1941 Chevrolet that my father bought new. I am also restoring a 1921 Model T Ford.
