Since I retired in 1998, I have divided my time between extended family responsibilities, involvement in church ministries, and personal interests, i.e. hobbies, reading, camping, traveling.
My retirement from teaching enabled me to work part-timeon the pastoral staff of my church. It has been fulfilling, yet demanding work, and it is my hope that I’ll be able to retire from that as well within the next year.
Barbara and I celebrated our 46th wedding anniversary this month by riding in a hot air balloon over the northern Willamette Valley. This area of Oregon continues to be our home.
Our younger son and his wife live in Tualatin; he is a product manager with a aviation firm in Portland.
Our eldest son and his family live in Springfield where he is a battalion chief with the Eugene-Springfield Fire Department. We are often in Springfield as both grandchildren are very involved in extracurricular activities at their high school.
It doesn’t seem possible that 50 years have passed since graduation. Yet I know that our life is “but a vapor.” Therefore, trying to serve Jesus Christ, "Whom to know is life eternal" continues to be the goal of my life.
