Deanna Korb Stevenson

Obituary

Deanna was my very special friend all through junior high, high school and college. She was with me at the moment when I met my husband, Ted. Deanna will be terribly missed by her family and many friends. Her husband Roger died very unexpectedly 5 years ago. Both were close friends of our whole family - including our two daughters. She and Roger visited us often. We did many fun things together here on Maui and in Oregon. In August 2014, Deanna and I spent many hours of "girl time" together in Oregon and in Vancouver, WA revisiting many of the places where we'd lived and spent time in the years we were attending college and later living there. Deanna will live forever in my heart. ~ Shirlye Munkres Sonsteby

I remember Senior skip day when several of us girls went to the beach. Deanna and I went running into the water laughing and having fun. At the 50th reunion Deanna and I shared a room at the RED LION. As it turned out we both had the same colored tops and I asked her if I should change and she said No, would be fun , we could be twins and we laughed. Deanna was fun and never a dull moment being around her, she was a good friend and I will miss her. We shared a love of cats too. My sincere sympathy to her family and friends. ~ Kathy Michek

Deanna & Friends

Deanna with friends Nancy and Shirlye

For several years Deanna worked as a corporate travel planner for a Japanese company in Portland. After that, she was semi-retired but working with Special Memories Travel in Keizer, OR. She loved to travel, spending time in Spain and Portugal recently.

Deanna volunteered at Albertina Kerr Center in Portland, in their consignment shop and doing their bookkeeping. Kerr Center supports mentally and physically challenged children and adults in many different programs, group homes and schools. Deanna was also involved with American Business Women's Assoc. for over 35 years. ABWA's main objective is to raise scholarships for women.

She was married to Roger Stevenson for 25 years, until he passed away in 2011. She had 3 adult stepchildren and 5 grandchildren.

After suffering a stroke on February 25, 2015, Deanna was taken by ambulance to Providence Hospital, after she had called for help. She passed away on Friday, February 27, without regaining consciousness.

Deanna's Memorial service was held on Saturday April 25, 2015. Many who attended that service stood to talk about their experiences and relationship with Deanna. She was loved and cherished by a very great number of people. Several counted her as their "best friend". There can be no greater tribute.
