Bruce at our 50th Reunion |
After graduating from North Salem, I attended Oregon State College, but returned home to help out in our family busines, Nopp's Golden Pheasant (also known as Nopp's Restaurant).
In 1968 I married Cherri, and we settled in Keizer OR. We later had two wonderful children, Michelle and Todd.
In 1974 I became sole owner of the restaurant until it was sold in 1995. Then my career went into a completely different direction. I became a project construction manager, scheduling sub-contractors for a lare building project in Molalla. After working for other builders, I branched out on my own as a developer and started building on my own in 1997.
During the last 50 years, I was elected to serve on positions for Salem Area Transit, Keizer Water Board and Keizer City Council. I was active on a number of community boards and committees, but the most enjoyment I had was my involvement with the Marion County Fair Board, where I served for 3 years.
My personal accomplishments include developing and patenting my own seafood breading (used at our restaurant), being one of the three signers to petition for the indorporation of the City of Keizer, and serving three-elected positon during the same time period.
Currently I am enjoying semi-retirement, but I still take on building projects as they develop. I love having the freedom to spend time with my four grandchildren, family and friends
